About Dr. Sowunmi Adedayo Adesola
Sowunmi Adedayo Adesola is an educator, school counselor, career guidance expert, educational and counselling psychologist. She holds a National Certificate of Education in Biology/Geography from Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. Afterward, she pursued an undergraduate Degree in Guidance and Counselling at Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Her passion for education and adequate skills to help her clients self-solve their life challenges drove her to pursue a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with an option in Educational Psychology. She holds a certificate of practice from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). She earned her PhD Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
She is an active member of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria (POPAN), the International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP), the Young Foundation Line for Social Development (YFSD), and the American Psychological Association (APA). She is currently volunteering as a Teach for Nigeria Fellow in Ogun State schools.
She has trained and given therapeutic sessions to teachers and learners in various psychological skills under the auspices of SO4I Education Consulting firm since 2005, taught as a graduate teacher and served as a counsellor under the Teaching Service Commission, Ogun State between 2009 and 2017, and is the serving digital counsellor for the Ogun State Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DIPER) from 2022 to date. She employs a broad range of cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented psychological techniques in her psychotherapy and counseling sessions. She is a career coach expert and a member of the Career Development Practitioners and Researchers in Nigeria.
